Wholesale and bulk order policies

Dear bookseller/retailer:

Thank you for your interest.

This page describes my basic policies for wholesale sale of my self-published books.

Please note that

• These books are aimed at limited audiences and typically produced in very small print runs.
• To make these books as affordable as possible, they have very small profit margins.
• Production of these books is a sideline to my main business of providing photography (and writing services) to large publishers, advertising agencies, and corporations.

Therefore, I have to impose the minimum quantities cited below for providing discounts.

The resulting page shows both the available titles and prices. The page also provides links to detailed descriptions of each of the titles. These descriptions include quote from reviews.

Before placing any bulk order, please contact me (by e-mail or phone) to determine if I have sufficient stock on hand, and, if not, when sufficient stock will again be available.

Reseller discounts

The industry-standard 40 per cent discount from the suggested retail price is available if you order a minimum of 10 books, which can be split among two or more titles. To obtain the retailer discount, the minimum number of copies of any single title within an order is two copies. (I will consider smaller oders but would offer a smaller discount in that case. Contact me for details.)

The purchaser pays the actual shipping costs. I prefer to ship by U.S. Postal Service book rate. As I check my post office box for mail six days a week anyway, this makes it easy to drop off outgoing shipments.

Invoices are payable within 30 days. Except in the case of obvious production defects, books are not returnable.

With the first order of 10 or more copies of a title, I provide one free display copy. (My books are supplied in shrink-wrapped packages; this allows you to open one copy for customer examination.)

Distributor discounts

Unfortunately, the suggested retail prices for my books do not have a sufficient profit margin to allow the industry-standard 60 per cent discount from retail price. Therefore, such distributor discounts are not available

However, if you are interested in purchasing a very large quantity (50+ copies) of a single title, please contact me and I will see if it is possible to provide an additional discount beyond the 40 per cent retailer discount.

Single-copy orders

I am, of course, still willing to fill single-copy orders from booksellers and other retailers. However, in this case you pay the retail price and normal shipping and handling costs. Payment with the order helps simplify processing.

For single-copy orders, you must obtain your profit by collecting a service fee (or other mark-up) from the customer.
